AWARDS

Members are only eligible to win one award per fiscal year. I.E. John can’t be drawn for Educator of the year ($400) and also for the service award, if he were to win an award, he would be ineligible for another that year. For the purposes below, ‘educator’ includes all members, not just teachers.

This award is to celebrate the outstanding educators of the Milton Educators Association. We want to support and recognize educators for their creativity, innovation, and dedication to students, community, and their union. 

Any MEA member can nominate any other MEA member. 5 recipients will be drawn: 1 elementary Unit A, 1 secondary Unit A, 1 additional Unit A from any school, 1 Unit D, and 1 Unit B. There’s no limit on nomination submissions, although we may only nominate someone once per award, we encourage members to nominate as many deserving colleagues as they’d like! 

Above and Beyond Award

Please nominate educators from all units who go above and beyond expectations in order to meet their students’ needs. Whether it’s (1) teaching beyond the bell, (2) advocating for students’ needs, (3) helping colleagues acquire new methods or overcome challenges, (4) supporting students’ extracurricular ambitions, (5) being an ally and listener when students’ need a trusted adult, etc…. The MEA wants to honor and celebrate the extra work our extraordinary members put in to make our students shine. 

Any MEA member can nominate any other MEA member through the simple nomination form linked above in blue underline. 

Rookie of the year award

Please nominate educators from unit A on this simple google form. This award is to celebrate the outstanding first-year (in MPS) educators of the Milton Educators Association. We want to recognize new educators that are creative, innovative, and dedicated to their students, their community, and their union. 

Any MEA member can nominate any other first-year MEA member. One recipient will be drawn. There’s no limit on nominations, we encourage members to nominate as many deserving colleagues as they’d like!
